Sasha’s youngest was two years old when she and her family moved to Portland from the United Kingdom, but her postpartum experience was still fresh in her mind. Not only had she been the first in her family to nurse her babies, but she had had a particularly difficult time breastfeeding. Sasha had been grateful that her mother was able to spend a month with her during that challenging time and felt fortunate that postpartum care in the UK included regular home visits from health care professionals. But it was a shock to learn that families in the US did not benefit from the same type of support. Sasha decided that she wanted to be a part of the solution in her new community; to support families after the birth of a baby. She began her journey as a breastfeeding support peer, and developed a passion serving as a postpartum doula. 

Using her mother as inspiration, Sasha is passionate about providing the calm, non-judgmental support that she received after the births of her babies. Sasha is known for her friendly, approachable, unflappable personality and is dedicated to facilitating an environment where family members feel safe, supported, and listened to. Whether handling routine tasks, or caring for an infant so parents can rest, she enjoys creating a space where parents can learn to trust their own judgement. Sasha loves connecting with each family member, and particularly enjoys helping mothers feel rested and able to enjoy their new baby. She delights in watching parents blossom with confidence.

When she is not snuggling babies, Sasha teaches Jazzercise and volunteers as a La Leche Leader. She loves hanging out with her family, hiking, camping, and being in community. She also enjoys anything crafty - especially sewing and crochet.
