Sarah Longwell
IBCLC, Lactation Services Director | she/her
“Sarah's attention to detail & relaxed sense of humor, paired with her ability to ask good open-ended questions, are what helped me feel like my lactation plan was manageable.”
—M.A.
Sarah’s life changed when she took time away from her tech job for the births of her two sons. After struggling through a long list of feeding and parenting challenges in her children’s early lives, Sarah became passionate about the need to support families to confidence and balance with feeding their babies. She decided to change careers. Over the next several years, Sarah completed a degree in lactation consulting, and went on to become a private practice clinician, as well as a teacher and clinical supervisor for aspiring lactation support professionals.
Sarah has a deep belief that each baby and parent are unique and deserve care that reflects their individual needs, goals, challenges, and triumphs. This involves providing the best and most relevant information available about infant care and feeding, as well as thoughtful and empathetic support through the many challenges of parenting a new baby. Sarah sees the client’s goals as her goals and holds a deep respect for both the natural biological processes of pregnancy, childbirth, and lactation, and for the specific and changing practical and emotional needs of each family she serves. Sarah loves providing the support her clients need to find their own way as parents.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys hiking and camping with her family, playing pub trivia games, and loving on the family’s hound mix, Fawkes. She lives in Portland with her husband and two teenagers and hopes to never live anywhere else.
