Rachel Benak

Certified Postpartum Doula | she/her

“Rachel was a consistent positive and supportive presence for our whole family.”

— Stacy S., mother of twins

Rachel’s journey into motherhood inspired her to pursue a career as a postpartum doula. Living 3,000 miles away from her family of origin, she was blessed with the arrival of her daughter. As an adult who was the first among her close friends to take the plunge into parenthood, she struggled to find her parenting village. Her best friend would visit, and provide amazing support, but they lived far from each other, and Rachel longed for more help and company. She found she needed more support than she had previously imagined. Her doula was tremendously helpful. Rachel felt so often that her doula’s extra set of hands, helpful tips, and empathetic ear were exactly what she needed at the time. Rachel was inspired to care for other families in the ways that they needed. Rachel believes every family should have access to compassionate postpartum care. When parents are supported, the whole family is supported.

Rachel feels honored to assist families in the beautiful, and messy transition of welcoming a newborn into their world. She provides empathetic, and thoughtful care; adapting to the needs of the families she serves. She utilizes resources, and research to continue to expand her knowledge base of postpartum care. In addition, Rachel holds a bachelor’s degree in social work. It has aided her in developing the skill of recognizing the diverse set of needs we have as human beings, and continues to inform her practice as a postpartum doula. With a general curiosity for life, she is delighted and inspired by all opportunities for learning.

When Rachel isn’t supporting families, she can be found reading in her hammock, hiking in the gorgeous PNW with her family, creating multi-story Lego mansions with her 7-year-old, playing the guitar, and connecting with family and friends.
