Catherine Braxton
Certified Postpartum Doula, LMT | she/they
“Catherine made me feel so safe and seen in my experience. Her energy is so calming. She is very knowledgable and grounded.”
— Jessica T., mom of two
Catherine came to the world of birthwork at the age of 12 when a close family member gave birth to twins. Through that experience of caring for and loving that family, she then became a consistent support for friends and family through their experiences in birth, abortion, grief and plenty of babysitting. After attending college at Wheaton College/Brown University with a double concentration in Africana Studies and Theater/Dance Composition, Catherine found herself working in a combination of theatrical pursuits in New York City. She also applied her energies to organizing work in Black and Native communities, including work with Black Lives Matter and Indigenous Women Rising. After moving to Oregon in 2020 and the emergence of the pandemic, Catherine once again felt called to engage in the process of birth and body work.
Catherine is a passionate lifelong learner. Once she made the decision to move wholeheartedly into birth & bodywork as a career path, she built her body of experience through Full Spectrum Doula training and multifaceted work supporting families, licensure as a massage therapist, an apprenticeship in craniosacral therapy, and increasing her knowledge in herbalism.
Catherine can often be found with a book in hand, tending to her small home garden and making oils, salves, tinctures and tea blends for friends, family and clients while living in a tiny house in North Portland.
