BB Partner Profile: MilkRun

It takes a village to raise a child, and as an agency we cultivate a village of partner providers who support our clients in making the childbearing year nurtured, healthy and vibrant.

Each month, we profile one of our partners - it’s one more way in which we strive to weave a comprehensive safety net for our clients and build up other local businesses who are also working to shift toward a culture that truly respects and cherishes families.

This month, we’re pleased to profile Bridgetown Baby partner Julia Niiro of MilkRun.

As an owner of a small farm in Canby, OR, Julia Niiro recognized the inefficiencies of our national food supply chain and the impacts on farmers themselves: only 10% of what is spent on food in grocery stores actually makes it back to these hard-working producers, placing small farms at risk of extinction over the next 10 years. Hunting for a cost-effective way to offer produce to her community, in 2018, Julia launched MilkRun to provide an online marketplace for local farmers, bakers, butchers, and makers to sell goods directly to consumers.

It sounds simple, but the impact is multifold - connecting communities with local farmers, helping local farms, and encouraging future generations to continue providing local food for a sustainable economy. Win-win-win!

Now available in three markets (Portland, Seattle and Austin), MilkRun shifted its subscription model in 2020 in response to demand fueled by the COVID-10 pandemic. Working with the same farmers, MilkRun is now a weekly subscription service that delivers farm-fresh produce, meats, dairy and eggs direct from local farms to customers’ doorsteps. An excellent resource for ensuring your postpartum experience is nourished from the inside out.
