Announcing: Insurance Coverage for Feeding Support

Supporting [breast/chest feeding] involves many actors at different levels. [Parents] need support from the health service, workplace, and community to optimally [feed], progressing from one level to the other. This is called the Warm Chain of Support for Breastfeeding. ~World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action

We know that adequate support is the number 1 predictor of a parent’s success in breast/chest feeding their baby - in 2023, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action celebrated World Breastfeeding Week with the theme “Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support.”

We’ve always incorporated feeding support into the Bridgetown Baby model for postpartum care, and, as part of the “Warm Chain of Support” we’ve worked to improve access to lactation care for all parents.

That’s why we were delighted to announce that we are stepping up for breast/chest feeding expanding access to feeding education and support by partnering with The Lactation Network to bill insurance for Bridgetown Baby clients seeking feeding support.

Families with Blue Cross, Anthem, and Provider Network of America PPO plans, as well as United Healthcare, MultiPlan coverage and VA Community Care Network, now have access to a minimum of 6 covered visits - in-person or virtual - with a Bridgetown Baby lactation consultant.
