Light in a Dark Season: Resources for Pregnancy and Infant Loss

Trigger warning: infant loss, pregnancy loss

The title of a recent New York Times opinion piece confirmed something we knew in our bones: You Know Someone Who’s Had a Miscarriage. This beautiful interactive photo and video essay gives voice to a grief that is often experienced quietly and alone.

Yet it is a grief that links us, however isolating it may be: 1 in 4 of us in the United States has lost or will lose an infant during pregnancy, childbirth or infancy(1). Here at Bridgetown Baby many of the families we serve have experienced such loss, and we stand in awe of the strength and resilience with which they go on to build and rebuild their families.

This October, like every October, we join in solidarity with all families who have lost a child, by holding space - and making space - for grief to be voiced, experience to be shared, and connections to be made. Each year, we add to our collection of stories and resources for families who grieve and for the friends and family who love them - we hope something in this collection may bring a sense, in a dark season, of moving toward the light.
